Where do I start?
Hello. I'm fairly new to Nexuiz, so I'm wondering what habits a beginning player should have and maintain to play effectivley. I'm also wondering what would be the areas of gameplay a beginner would need to practice, and the best way to practice them, as well as tips for progressing into more advanced play. If anybody can answer my questions, it would be greatly appreciated. :-) Thank you for reading.

RE: Where do I start?
Movement is one of the first things you should learn. After you are fairly good with movement you go on to weapons and weapon combos. Spectating good players can also give you great help.
You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right

Viva la Revolution!

RE: Where do I start?
Be sure to read the documentation in the Docs folder, it has almost all the information a beginner needs. Welcome to Nexuiz. :)

RE: Where do I start?
watch the demo's from the planet nexuiz tourney http://planetnexuiz.com/tourney/

use a low sensitivity, time megahealth, armor, quad, etc
play on private servers in a more organized environment if you really want to get good, playing on 16+ player pubs really wont do much for skill

RE: Where do I start?
Thank you for all of the info so far.

Regarding TwEaK's answer: what is quad? I occasionaly see a player type in "quad soon", but I don't know what it means, and I haven't heard of "time megahealth" either. I also don't know how to connect to a private server. Can someone enlighten me, perhaps?

Regarding Agama's post: How do I know if I'm moving properly? I use WASD, and if someone is shooting at me, I attempt to dodge the projectile/AoE Damage. Are there any movement exercises to practice or just a good way of moving in general?

RE: Where do I start?
AnArKiST: The quad is a power up item that increases the damage/force of a weapon. When you "time a mega health or armor", you're timing the respawn of either.

Regarding movement: What agama means is that you should first try to learn how to bunny hop, which involves jumping while moving continuously to gain speed. When bunny hopping has become a second nature to you, then you would move on to more "advanced" movement - Strafing. A common type of strafing is similar to bunny hopping, except for when you turn, you hold only a or d, not w + a or d. There are different types of strafing maneuvers, the most common of which is what I just explained and a/d only strafing, which basically is bunnyhopping without using w.

Also, when it comes to movement, it's good to have a basic knowledge of laser jumping, which involves shooting the laser gun at the ground and jumping simultaneously, which launches you high in the air. Lasering the wall to gain speed isn't a bad thing to get a hang of as well.

RE: Where do I start?
Thank you, I'm going to try this out right now. Now, when timing an item respawn, is there a certain amount of time before the respawn, is it ramdomized, or different for each item?

I apologize if I'm asking too many questions. I'm just really liking the look and feel of this game, and was extremely surprised when I started multiplayer because everybody was nice to everybody else. From my experience it's very uncommon to find a game where people do not flame each other every other frag. I'm a good guy, and I'm looking forward to playing with more people. I'm sorry about the offtopic comment.

RE: Where do I start?
Weapons respawn every 15 seconds, Mega Armors (100 Armor) and Mega Heahlt (100 Heahlt) respawn every 30 seconds. The Strength Powerup (Quad, the blue thing) and the Shield Powerup (the red thing) respawn every 2 minutes.

Those are default settings, some ppl in the TDM scene use 25 seconds for the weapons.

RE: Where do I start?
Guys.. he just started playing the game :P
At first you should learn 'bunnyhopping'
just jump always instead of walking - thats a lot faster :)
and 'quad soon' is a bind. If you press a button it releases a command.
there are standard binds on the numpad.
