There is an official news post on the matter at [url]http://www.alientrap.org/nexuiz/news[/url]

Details have been unfolding as [url=http://alientrap.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6043]information about the IllFonic Nexuiz game is learned[/url], [url=http://alientrap.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6050]tensions are high[/url] while leadership fails to subside the community in this time of doubt.
Underneath it all however, a fire burns. It's a burning love for the core culture we've built our community around. From this fire, rises a new game set to preserve the values in which we hold sacred to our GPL game. [url=http://xonotic.org]Xonotic[/url] is a GPL fork of Nexuiz 2.5.2svn. This new game and community was brought to life by core contributors of Nexuiz who realized there was no future in the relationship with project owner, Lee Vermeulen, who chose to capitalize on other people's work and failed to provide restitution.
To avoid being repetitive, I ask you refer to the [url=http://xonotic.org/faq]Xonoitc FAQ[/url] for details about this fork.

A lot is unknown at the moment. The first time we had any idea something was up, was when Dokujisan created the [url=http://alientrap.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6037]Nexuiz.com makeover? Nexuiz going to consoles?[/url] thread on Alientrap Forums. The buzz on IRC and on the forums indicates that the "owner/creator" of Nexuiz / Alientrap, Lee Vermeulen has sold the name and domain Nexuiz(.com) to a game maker by the name of [url=http://www.illfonic.com/]illfonic[/url].

According to LordHavoc (developer of the [url=http://icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/]Darkplaces[/url] engine, who was apparently in on the deal), the game was licensed as such:

Quote:[6:14:56 pm] <LordHavoc> id sells id tech 2 (quake+quake2) licenses for $10k
[6:15:22 pm] <LordHavoc> my modifications and the contributor modifications (which I obtained permission for) were an additional expense
[6:15:39 pm] <LordHavoc> thus they licensed darkplaces as a whole
[6:16:06 pm] <[-z-]> contributor modifications, as it patches div or samual or dib mrbougo, etc submitted?
[6:16:43 pm] <Samual> For example, motionblur
[6:21:11 pm] <LordHavoc> yep

It appears that all the games art will be redesigned but it's unclear as to whether this art will be inherited by the original Nexuiz (probably not). There are also questions about possible GPL code being re-licensed without author's consent.

As of right now, it appears as if the deal was made for the reputation of the name and reputation it has built. This, of course, has the community quite upset as the original Nexuiz will likely be made the victim in a comparison.

So as for now [url]www.nexuiz.com[/url] represents the new game supposedly for the PS3 and [url]www.alientrap.org/nexuiz[/url] represents the original (optionally, the more phonetic [url]www.nexiuz.org[/url] works as well).

As a contributor to both nexuiz and alientrap, I'm upset about the way this was handled. Apparently only 3 people out of the 26 currently in the developer chat knew about this, (2 being Vermeulen and LordHavoc). This has many of the developers questioning their contributions and efforts as well as the ethics of some.

Here is [url=http://alientrap.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6019&p=76034#p76034]Vermeulen's current response[/url]

I wanted to make a note on the current state of and future plan for the Nexuiz Ninjaz, before I get to the state of [url=http://alientrap.org/nexuiz]Nexuiz (GPL)[/url], which we've recently found out had it's name sold by Lee Vermeulen [url=http://alientrap.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6037]without anything being mentioned to the community[/url] or the bulk of development team.

The Nexuiz Ninjaz were founded on the belief that all things could be seen as an art or discipline that can be mastered and refined. We came together to build strength in our community by sharing ideas in areas we'd believed to have currently mastered, such as movement techniques, weapon strategies, flag capture methods, server managemen, map mapping, graphic design, web applications, music, sounds, videos or anything you can imagine relating to the GPL game Nexuiz that tickled our spirits.

This community has been seen through many glasses and met with many attitudes through-out our lifetime. We've lived through different eras of Nexuiz and tried many things.

Recently, interest in "staff" has been dwindling and that decline in interest also hurt the quality of the site and we (mostly me) let things get out of hand. Particularly with the forums (spam bots) but also with the maps and servers, which I've neglected.

As some of you know, I have been working for a company for the past 8 months or so and that workload has been pretty consuming at times. I do a lot of what I've been doing for years. Building, configuring, programming and networking computers/devices together. Doing that all day it can be hard to do the same thing when I get home. However, as an investor in myself and in this community, I do plan to rejuvenate the website(s)/community by reapplying the skills I've been fine-tuning at work to here.

Making sure of this are some of the ninjaz, you'll likely see hopping around on some of the [url=http://www.nullgaming.com/hoctf/]best Nexuiz servers for CTF[/url] and [url=http://www.nullgaming.com/hodm/]best Nexuiz servers for DM[/url], mookow, PC Lizard and Dokujisan, who have been been [url=http://dev.nexuizninjaz.com/projects/dojov2/issues]greasing the wheels of dojo_v2 development[/url].

As for future of the website, I think I want to re-evaluate our needs and re-design the way I go about integrating services into it. I feel like in some ways, it caused more frustration than ease.
It's been a while since I've last posted. I've been pretty busy with different projects and focusing on different aspects of Nexuiz when I can. I was hoping to come back from this drought with an announcement of the release of 2.5.2 but [url=http://dev.alientrap.org/projects/roadmap/nexuiz]as you can see[/url], alientrap is having a little trouble getting the final product out the door. [url=http://alientrap.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5231&highlight=beta]Beta builds[/url] have been around for a while, and various developers are at different points in testing, focusing on different areas.

The [url=http://servers.nexuizninjaz.com]Nexuiz Ninjaz Servers[/url] run close to latest SVN but it's not always up to date. Dokujisan runs a tight ship on [url=http://www.nullgaming.com/hoctf/]HOCTF[/url] and tastefully applies changes. He puts a lot of time into these servers and currently I think they represent one of the strongest cultures within the Nexuiz community.

The new version of Nexuiz features a lot of neat changes, which I'll cover in finer detail in the future. Some of the highlights that I find most interesting are the added effects/motion blur, the new tutorial map to help situate new users (or mildly entertain veterans) and the new HUD.

Vermeulen, the man who started [url=http://alientrap.org]Alientrap[/url] has been recently promoting a new 2d game (windows/xbox only) called [url=http://alientrap.org/capsized]capsized[/url].

I've been keeping tabs on Nexuiz in a reserved manor recently but like a ninja, I've been taking note as to where this community currently stands and envision a stronger more streamlined future. Through my new job, I've been exercising my web and computer discipline. Working with Linux in many different environments, on many different devices, my understanding has evolved. I plan to use these skills to benefit the Nexuiz community by revisiting and expanding on old projects in a way I find easier to manage to keep the projects progressing. A lot of this has been put off awaiting the next release so I can get the servers stable and rework the code that runs them. The other thing I need is the time :).

Back to Nexuiz, The [url=http://www.nexuiz.com]Official Nexuiz Website[/url] has gone through some behind the scenes changes and we're considering connecting with sister site run by Dokujisan, [url=http://www.nexuiznews.com]NexuizNews.com[/url]. All bloggers at Nexuiz News have the chance to become an official writer for Nexuiz.com News, doubling their exposure and helping the Nexuiz community.

NDT - Nexuiz Development Toolz

NDT or Nexuiz Development Toolz is a set of bash helper functions I've been developing over the past three days to provide myself with a script that sandboxes Nexuiz for development, making up for the downfalls of some of the existing SVN checkout scripts.

[size=large][b]Before you read any further, this script is currently Linux only, perhaps OSX will work too but it's written in bash so I don't know if you can get it working with cygwin or what.[/b][/size]

Unlike other existing SVN checkout solutions, NDT is very modular in it's approach to development. Rather than a top-down everything must update and everything must compile approach, NDT offers the flexibility of allowing you compile every individual part of Nexuiz independently. The engine (darkplaces), the compiler (fteqcc), the Nexuiz server, the Nexuiz menu, the Nexuiz client. Recently, I've just integrated the ability to checkout/update/compile NetRadiant.

All these things can be checked out/updated/compiled separately but ALSO together with a quick command (./ndt -u) making it an ideal solution to replace existing scripts if you have any interest in developing.

[b]NDT was created with developers in mind[/b]. Because of this, it assumes you're going to be making code modifications and so it exports (by default) to two directories, nexuiz_vanilla and nexuiz_dev which use custom userdirs, ~/.nexuiz_vanilla and ~/.nexuiz_dev respectively.

Having this separation in code, means you can easily take advantage of the patching features I've included. --create_patch, --apply_patch and --revert_patch, see --help for more.

[b]Even if you're not a developer, you can still take advantage of this script, pay attention mappers![/b]. You don't have to install nexuiz for development, in fact, you can just use this script to install NetRadiant from SVN with the following commands:

Code:

./ndt.sh --checkout_netradiant
./ndt.sh --compile_netradiant

and to update in the future

This program is still in early beta (0.7 as I'm writing this) but I plan on actively developing it as I learn more about QuakeC and developing for the game itself.

Here's a screenshot to better illustrate what the hell I'm doing:

I've checked the code into git, so my advice to you is to use git to stay updated. If you're on a ubuntu system, do something like the following:

Install dependencies for Nexuiz:

Code:

sudo apt-get install build-essential xserver-xorg-dev x11proto-xf86dri-dev x11proto-xf86dga-dev x11proto-xf86vidmode-dev libxxf86dga-dev libxcb-xf86dri0-dev libxpm-dev libxxf86vm-dev libsdl1.2-dev libsdl-image1.2-dev libsdl1.2debian-alsa subversion libclalsadrv-dev libasound2-dev libxext-dev zenity

Install git core and checkout ndt:

Code:

sudo apt-get install git-core
mkdir ~/nexuiz_development/ && cd ~/nexuiz_development
git clone git://github.com/z/ndt.git
cd ndt
cp default.ndt.conf my.ndt.conf
gedit my.ndt.conf

edit the settings in my.ndt.conf to reflect your environment then:

Code:

sed -i 's/default.ndt.conf/my.ndt.conf/' ndt.sh
chmod +x ndt.sh
./ndt.sh -i

This will checkout, compile and export Nexuiz (and optionally NetRadiant) for you, "installing" your development environment.

Anytime you need to update the script, use the following command:

Code:

sed -i 's/my.ndt.conf/default.ndt.conf/' ndt.sh
git pull
sed -i 's/default.ndt.conf/my.ndt.conf/' ndt.sh

Code:

./ndt.sh --update_netradiant
./ndt.sh --compile_netradiant

[b]Hello all North American Nexers.[/b]

We're officially announcing the first North American 3v3CTF Ladder, which will begin during the [b]week of May 25th[/b] (depending on the setup time for registrations, map selection, server setup, mumble setup).

The purpose of this ladder is to generate activity for the North American clan community. Any clan members within the North American region are welcomed to participate. We hope that this boost in activity also carries over to the EU and AU communities as well.

If you are interested in joining the ladder, visit [url=http://nexuizclans.com]NexuizClans.com[/url] to register.
This is a ladder and NOT a tournament, so it will be ongoing and you can join at any time.

Nexuiz servers will be provided for this ladder. There will also be a Mumble voice server made available.

We are currently in the process of selecting the map pool for the ladder. Voting is going to be quick, as we are trying to expedite this process. If your favorite map doesn't get included during this round, don't worry. We will adjust the maplist over time as new maps get released and as we get feedback from the clans.

Each clan gets to select 3 maps that they like and 3 maps that they dislike from the voting pool. When you know your map selection, the clan leader should send a private message to [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com/forum/private.php?action=send&uid=4]Nifrek[/url] on the forum or in IRC. Don't announce your votes publicly as it may influence other votes.

To vote on the maps, follow this link : [url]http://nullgaming.com/nexuiz/ladder[/url]

If you have questions, you can post them here, or you can ask in the
Though not all of his maps are perfect, his work helped bring to light new questions and issues about the map packaging process. He said however he did not want the 1st place prize of the mouse, so by default, that will be handed off to mikeeusa who came in 2nd place with a total of 296 points.

The points are listed below:

1st - unknown: > 400

As promised, the official results of the mapping contest are in. All judges have send their grades to me and I've tallied up the scores. Remember, this contest was point based and contestants could earn points just for proper packaging. And that's just what happened!

Quoting the change log:

Almost a year of hard work, 3000 single changes, new developers and players, a few tourneys and lots of matches have passed since the last release.

Today the Alientrap team is proud to bring you a new and improved Nexuiz! Still trying to achieve this fine balance between fun and a challenge, you will notice lots of small additions that will make playing even more fun.

Some larger changes like the new guns and particle effects will make you want to dive into the great and friendly Nexuiz community, while the large additions including the race game mode, some new maps and improved netcode will take away lots of hours of your free time.

Do you dare to take a look and see for yourself what a totally free and open source game can be?

New features include:

Completely redone HUD and user adjustable scoreboard

Totally rewritten Client/Server communication to cut the bandwidth usage in half

New gamemode "Race". Try to get from start to end of a level as fast as possible. Available as free-for-all and team variant. Further allows to play with or without a qualification period.

Added several new weapons (on-hand Grappling Hook, Port-O-Launch, T.A.G. Seeker, Heavy Laser Assault Cannon, Rifle)

Map editor NetRadiant included

Improved all effects for eye candy and tweakability

All maps recompiled with external lightmaps which allow for much crisper shadows

Added maps desertfactory (DM, TDM, MinstaGib), racetrack (Race) and made aggressor support Key Hunt

New player sounds, announcer sounds/voices, textures, crosshairs, weapon models, effects and menu skins

Added support for video capture to OggTheora

Integrated the Havoc mod into the menu! Havoc servers use quite different physics and weapons, give it a try!

Fixed a crash with ATI drivers on shutdown or vid_restart

Fixed several problems with lagging gameplay/crashes/wrong display of effects

Improved bots (teamworking, bunnyhopping, swimming, better way finding, support for ladders, less CPU usage, faster map loading)

Better visual display of carried items (Strength, Shield, flags and keys)

Better parental guidance support with cl_gentle and cl_nogibs

Lots of tourney-related features (timeout/in, spectator-slots, allready, warmup mode, lockteams, unlockteams, movetoteam_red/blue/..., nospectators, records, cointoss)

Added some effects customization options like cl_casings, cl_weaponpriority

Many more map entities allowing for more dynamic maps

Restructured and improved menu: demos menu and multiple campaigns are back, also added an advanced menu containing ALL settings of the game

For a more complete list of changes see: [url]https://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=672474&group_id=81584[/url]

As usual, you can download the newest release from our download page.
To see the changes in action check out our new video on the front page.
If you are providing a mirror of the release, please notify us so we can add it to the official mirror list. For any comments, suggestions or questions, please refer to our forum or the FAQ.

Because of many major changes there is NO PATCH available.
To make sure nothing breaks, you should use a new directory to unzip Nexuiz 2.5!

If you use 2.5 and see a server with no gametype it's an 2.4.2 server, don't play on those. :)

[url=http://alientrap.org]Alientrap[/url] is also currently looking for new coders, modellers, mappers and people experienced with creating sound effects.
If you feel like helping improve [url=http://nexuiz.com]Nexuiz[/url] or [url=http://alientrap.org/zymotic]Zymotic[/url] please contact the team via [url=http://alientrap/forum]AT forum[/url] or [url=irc://irc.anynet.org/alientrap]IRC[/url].

Morfar has announced the release of [url=http://alientrap.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4321]2.5 beta builds[/url] which is exciting news for the [url=http://www.nexuiz.com]Nexuiz community[/url] as this is sure to be the most solid release yet. So many improvements I'm wasting my time talking about it. Do yourself a favor and try out the beta, and help find bugs before the final release.

The [url=http://servers.nexuizninjaz.com]Nexuiz Ninjaz Servers[/url] are running the latest SVN for compatibility with these builds. I also did some work to servers.nn as you may (or may not have noticed).

So if you're tired of waiting in queue for [url=http://www.quakelive.com/]QuakeLive[/url], check out the 2 links I mentioned above :-P

I have to talk to the other judges about grading the maps still btw. I apologize for the delay, I've been extremely busy.

The judges and I will talk things over and begin reviewing and scoring the maps. I predict the process to take 2-4 weeks depending on how in depth we go. During for ~3 weeks we will also have a vote for "community's choice" of their favorite mapper in the contest.

Sorry for the late update, been doing a lot of traveling and swapping of computer hardware, upgrades and work for clients as well as a bit of time for myself. For those of you thank hang around [url=http://chat.nexuizninjaz.com]IRC[/url] or just active participants on the [url=http://servers.nexuizninjaz.com]Nexuiz Ninjaz Servers[/url] I'm sure you're quite aware of the things I'm about to mention but keep reading if you'd like to know more about them.

First off, we got MrBougo's [url=http://alientrap.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4172]Recode of Revenant's famouse Nexball[/url] which brings sports into [url=http://www.nexuiz.com]Nexuiz[/url]. The two main styles consist of soccer like game play (pushing the ball with your player) and basketball like game play (holding the ball in a gun and firing at will (watch out, enemies can steal from you!). You can try this game mode out without any changes to your client by connecting to the Nexuiz Ninjaz nexball server dojo.nexuizninjaz.com:26010 (optionally filter by nexball in game on the server list).

Next up, we've got some news about the [url=http://tinyurl.com/nn-contest]contest[/url] which [b]is over in less than a month!!![/b] The deadline for submissions is [b]Feburary 15[/b].

Soulbringer had started converting some custom quake 3 maps to be played in Nexuiz, unfortunately some of the shaders weren't working properly / didn't exist so alphagod was kind enough to recreate them! He's created a whole mess of maps which are available for play on the Nexuiz Ninjaz servers. [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=673]His CTF conversions[/url] and [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=676]DM conversation[/url] threads. There has also been [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=35]tons of new stuff in Mapjutsu[/url] I don't really have time to cover at the moment.

As I said before I've been busy working on the servers. The Nexuiz Ninjaz servers run off a unique set of bash scripts that I've built around some conventions and perl scripts divVerent has created. I plan on releasing them in the near future once I reach my goals for the project and give it some testing... so far so good, there are a few show-stoppers I need to tie up before I release them to the public though.

This script framework is extendable and quite easy to understand, it practices the methodology of convention over configuration. Meaning, most things are automagic :). These scripts also tie into a Web frontend I've been working on to manage the servers without having to login to the servers the classic way. This also for quicker more accurate moderation. More details on all these things in the future.

I'm quite tired at the moment but I wanted to share some progress with you all because it's been a while. There has been a lot more going on behind the scenes and as always, I'd like to show my appreciation to all the ninjaz (or nexuizians too cool to call themselves ninja). I couldn't have brought this community as far as it's gotten today without your help and common goals and understanding.

Thanks to all the supporters and players who make Nexuiz and its sub-communities great.

Hey now, two months left in the [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=585]Repackage, Remake, Reinspire Mapping Contest[/url] and we have some mentionables. [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=627]Effluent by Spelio[/url] which is a nice dm map with a cool circular flow, [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=585&pid=5540#pid5540]arenaautomatica13 by mikeeusa[/url], which features the porto gun, nice for keyhunt and soulbringer has ported some old q3 custom ctf maps (which I'm not sure if he's entering yet) which are a lot of fun! They are available on the [url=http://servers.nexuizninjaz.com]Ninjaz Serverz[/url].

I've just received the t-shirts seen below:

[img]http://pics.nexuizninjaz.com/files/t12j9l5pgw3x1c134npo.jpg[/img]

These are the generic ones I'm offering to anyone who enters at $15 dollars, non-contestants at $20. Any profit made on these goes back into helping pay for the monthly server costs, which have been [url=http://servers.nexuizninjaz.com]pretty active[/url] recently.

The 3 mapjutsu winners will receive special t-shirts which are hiding in the above picture. I don't want to reveal them yet but I will tell you they look awesome :).

The Razer Diamondback mouse also came.

Aside from managing the servers, I've been reviewing the current state of the ninjaz applications and prioritizing how things need to be tuned up. Big thanks to alpha, SoulBringer, mkzelda and divVerent for being so helpful in assisting me with planning and recent development concerning all these services.

I've just finished school, so I'm chilling out a little bit, trying to set my head straight. You'll slowly begin to see the applications tightening up.

Questions about the Ninjaz Servers should be directed towards [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=643]The Washintgon, DC Server Thread in General Discussion[/url]. Learn more about the new weapons at [url=http://ouns.nexuizninjaz.com]OUNS[/url].

[color=#ffffff][size=x-large][b]Introduction[/b][/size][/color]

November 15th marks the day I posted [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=9]the first news post[/url] on [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com]Nexuiz Ninjaz[/url]. Optimistic and inspiring, it sent out a positive message to those receptive to its energy. Together we found each other and have built all of this out of love for [url=http://www.nexuiz.com]Nexuiz[/url] and hope for the future of our games. Together we have helped each other understand. Looking at problems from different perspectives and collaborating ideas on ways to solve them, using [url=http://toolz.nexuizninjaz.com]various toolz[/url], such as [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com/forum]this forum[/url], [url=http://maps.nexuizninjaz.com]the map repository[/url], [url=http://pics.nexuizninjaz.com]image hosting[/url], [url=http://training.nexuizninjaz.com]training classes[/url] and many [url=http://qexpo.tastyspleen.net/booth.php?id=162]other methods[/url].

Today, in celebration of the [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com]Nexuiz Ninjaz[/url]' one year anniversary, we seek to build and improve another aspect of the game. Something [url=http://alientrap.org/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=70]divVerent's[/url] hard work is surely deserving of. Updated, properly packaged, improved or otherwise remade maps. The options are pretty limitless within the limits of being [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=420&pid=3282#pid3282]properly packaged[/url]. That is to say the minimum requirement is to repackage a map but you go as far to remaking an existing map from scratch. It doesn't even have to be from this game!

[color=#ffffff][size=x-large][b]Rules and Regulations[/b][/size][/color]
[color=#FFFF00][size=large]Please read the following information carefully if you wish to yield the highest points possible per submission[/size][/color]

To compensate fort the varying abilities of current and future mappers, [color=#ffffff][b]participants are allowed to submit as many maps as they'd like, this contest will be point based[/b][/color]. Players will get 3 points for a properly packaged maps and an additional 4 points in 5 respective categories for level of improvement. Textures, Sounds, Music, Item Placement, Flow. Participants are allowed to collaborate with other ninjaz, upon submission just tell us how to divide the points.

[color=#A52A2A][size=large][b]Packaging[/b][/size][/color]
Proper packaging consists of the structure linked above which participants will receive 1 point. An additional point is available for including [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=552]bot waypoints[/url]. The final point is for generating a mini map radar (used in SVN). This can be done with an SVN client with the command [b]sv_cmd radarmap[/b]. that should generate a .xpm file which you can convert to .tga using software such as [url=http://www.gimp.org]GIMP[/url]. Put this file should be called put in a "gfx" folder inside your pk3 with the name MAPNAME_radar.tga. For examples, gfx/whizardv1r4_radar.tga.

[color=#A52A2A][size=large][b]Textures[/b][/size][/color]
Textures will be graded on overall quality, creativity and usage. As this is a map remake contest, judges may consider your textures against the quality of the previous textures. This means, if you've got some sweet textures with awesome usage... but they were this way prior to your remake, you may not get many more points. Adversely, if they were total crap and you've improved them drastically you may be rewarded the full 4 points.

[color=#A52A2A][size=large][b]Sounds[/b][/size][/color]
Sounds will be judged based on usage, creativity and quality. The same sort of rules apply here as they do in all dimensions of this contest, we're judging based on improvements. If the map had no sounds and you've added some, you are guaranteed at least 1 point.

[color=#A52A2A][size=large][b]Music[/b][/size][/color]
Err what? Isn't music sound? Yes... it's a sound technically but music is very different in consideration to the map. It's often overlooked as many players don't play with their music on. There are a lot of music-less maps that could benefit from this added dimension to further build the environment. This will be judged on creativity and quality. [b]LICENSING IS VERY IMPORTANT HERE[/b]. Make sure you're VERY clear about this. If you're unsure, it's best to use something available under the Creative Commons.

[color=#A52A2A][size=large][b]Item Placement[/b][/size][/color]
Item placement and creativity goes together a bit with flow. You don't want to put 40 rocket launchers inside the bases... it will essentially break game play. SVN has brought in [url=http://ouns.nexuizninjaz.com/item:weapons]New weapons[/url]. Using these new weapons creatively will earn you more points.

[color=#A52A2A][size=large][b]Flow[/b][/size][/color]
Flow has to do with the shape of the map, the hallways, the varying altitudes, the trick jumps, portals, jump pads etc. It's hard to explain exactly what it is, for me at least. It's more something that you feel. This will be based on opinion/experience of the judges. Check out other maps and figure out "that feeling".

[color=#FFA500][size=x-large][b]PRIZES[/b] will be given for first, second and third place.[/size][/color]
[size=large]All 3 top placing contestants will win a custom edition mapjutsu guru t-shirt. Only three of these shirts will [b]EVER[/b] be printed.

[color=#ffffff][b]1st Prize[/b]:[/color] Mapjutsu Guru t-shirt, a [url=http://www.razerzone.com/p-62-razer-diamondback-3g-gaming-mouse.aspx]Razer Diamondback[/url] and a forum award
Dex Ter, one of the guys from We Print Shirts 4 Less, was kind enough to make a run to the store to pick up some quality black t-shirts last order I made (cause he was out) and printed them with one days notice, THE DAY BEFORE I needed them! [color=#ffffff][size=x-large][b]Introduction[/b][/size][/color]

[color=#ffffff][size=x-large][b]Rules and Regulations[/b][/size][/color]

[color=#A52A2A][size=large][b]Packaging[/b][/size][/color]

[color=#A52A2A][size=large][b]Textures[/b][/size][/color]

[color=#A52A2A][size=large][b]Sounds[/b][/size][/color]
Sounds will be judged based on usage, creativity and quality. The same sort of rules apply here as they do in all dimensions of this contest, we're judging based on improvements. If the map had no sounds and you've added some, you are guaranteed at least 1 point.

[color=#A52A2A][size=large][b]Flow[/b][/size][/color]
It's more something that you feel. This will be based on opinion/experience of the judges. Check out other maps and figure out "that feeling".
I've been doing some work on the Nexuiz Ninjaz SVN servers, you should see them improving more and more, less and less bugs as I get comfortable admining all of them. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, feel free to post them in the [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=534]Nexuiz Ninjaz SVN servers thread[/url].
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, feel free to post them in the [url=http://www.nexuizninjaz.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=534]Nexuiz Ninjaz SVN servers thread[/url].
