Nice to see the interest growing, a lot of players seem to enjoy the physics lately, quite a few duels are played with it and even a few 2v2. Funny thing is it all happened without me advertising them or anything for a long time. Or maybe people get to try them on the batcaves because I forgot to put regular physics back a few times ;)

We just have to find a new name for the physics as they should not necessarily be called the same as the league, they're just a different set of "rules". I don't want to name them after Rev's mod in case we ever decide to make changes it would get confusing as they'd still be called the same. Also, NA and Euro players are mixing a lot more lately, so I don't know, maybe find a new name for the league entirely? I'd rather still have divisions for NA/Euro because difference in skill is still quite large and the problems that could be caused by pings.

I'm open for suggestions.

For now I'm thinking:

Regular physics: 4v4tdm (clan based), 4v4ctf (clan based)

New physics: duels, 2v2tdm (team based, ie you can have whoever as your teammate, or have more than one team per clan)

I'm also thinking of 2v2ctf on small maps like dusty but I'm unsure about it. From some games I tried it was a lot of fun.

Whenever/if the league ever gets started, it would probably be better to start with duels and 2v2tdm as the number of clans is still too small yet for anything bigger.

Possible duel map pool:
Soylent
Aggressor
Final_rage
Warfare
Runningman 1on1remix

Other maps considered/unsure about:
Toxic (too easy to control?)
Stormkeep (it's great map when you know it well, but might not be exciting enough)
Evilspace (I'd be against it as it's not a very interesting map strategically, but still putting it here in case)
Bloodprison (very unpopular)

Possible 2v2tdm map pool:
Final_rage
Stormkeep
nexdmlc1

Other maps considered/unsure about:
DarkzoneNANL(very unpopular and needs some work done but who knows)

Any opinions?

--------OUTDATED---------
The name convention for server should be:

[NANL] Team Deathmatch - TX

Of course change TX for whatever is the location of the server.

I made a cfg for anyone wanting to make a server with NANL settings, they should be considered beta for now. So keep in mind that this is not final. The file is attached to this post.

Sorry if the formatting is not that great, I will edit my post later to make it clearer.

Here's a list of settings that differ from regular Nexuiz:

-- Physics
sv_airaccelerate 10 (default is 5.5)
sv_accelerate 6.5 (default is 5.5)
sv_friction 4 (default is 5)
sv_wallfriction 0.6 (default is 1)
sv_stopspeed 210 (default is 100)

-- Weapons
g_balance_rocketlauncher_speed 925 (default is 850)
g_balance_shotgun_primary_damage 7 (default is 12)
g_balance_shotgun_secondary_damage 7 (default is 12)

Brief explanation for the changes
-- Physics
Changed for more precise movement and faster gameplay. sv_stopspeed was changed because of lower friction, because even with faster acceleration when you stop moving you're slidding. Setting it to 210 fixes it and feels more like default physics.

-- Shotgun
Weaker to force players to use their head and not simply jump at their opponent's faces as soon as they respawn, they should use strategy and try to get a good weapon/armor before attacking.

-- Rockets
Slightly faster to compensate for the fact that gameplay is a lot faster with new physics, probably isn't that noticable.

Map list
soylent
darkzone_nanlbeta1 (modified version of darkzone for faster gameplay and item placement better suited for tdm)
final_rage
toxic
*aggressor

*I am unsure about aggressor, but it's here for now so it can be tested. Actually, the number of maps that will be officially in map pool for League matches will probably be narrowed down to a maximum of 3 for the first season of NANL. Everyone is new at 2vs2 and I want people to have enough practice and strategy on all available maps.

Along with this cfg will come a custom progs.dat with the following features (required for NANL) The progs.dat is not ready yet, I will add it to this post in the next couple days:

Map reset
This feature was recently added to SVN and is not in 2.3. When all that want to play have selected a team and are ready, map will reset with a 10 seconds countdown before match starts. In regular nexuiz, map would restart and players would need to reselect which team to play which is not very practical.

Teamlock
Teamlock allows players to play duels/2vs2/3vs3/etc. on the same server (depending on maxplayers) by "locking" the teams once all players are ready and map resets. Once match is started, observers cannot join a team and have to wait until next map. Anyone connecting to server during a match will of course also have to wait. They can eat some popcorn, enjoy the show then take a spot in next match. This stops random people from entering the game and ruin an ongoing match.

Spectalk
Another feature recently added in SVN is the ability for observers to chat with each other using team chat (like teammates do ingame to send team messages). With spectalk set to "0", observers will be unable to chat publicly during matches and only talk to other observers, this way they can't disrupt players with useless chat/spam. This is optional but should be used by default.

In the following weeks we will discuss things related to the league, as we will need to figure out a few things.

Rules, map pool/selection, match scheduling, servers, etc.

We will probably use Ladder rules but not use as many maps. I'm thinking of selecting about a maximum of 5 or 6 of the best 2vs2 suited maps. We might even modify some them for better team based gameplay. With fewer maps I think it will be easier for teams to practice more intensively by only concentrating on those.

Schedule and season length is to be discussed, it will depend on many teams/clans sign-up.

Also, since it's 2vs2, it think won't have to be only for clans but for anyone with a partner. That way, if you have 4 people in your clan who are interested in playing, you can simply make 2 teams. Things will probably different when the time comes to start 3vs3 or 4vs4 leagues.

That's it for now, I will add more details when things are more official.
