Dev's have done some major updates, 3 new maps, 2 new west coast server locations (LA, SF), database has been relocated in order to accommodate the next wave of invites (supposedly 25000)
More invites available (sent out within an hour or 2 now)

I wouldn't compare QL with Q3 too much. Anyway, Get Quaked 3 is pretty good, one of my favourite ones (Mellow Darkness, Annihilation, Unity, ...) too =)
