If you haven't heard of XQF it is an open source game server browser and launcher for Unix/X11 for many popular games such as the Quake series and Nexuiz. It gives you the ability to browse and connect to all public channels and any private servers you wish to add to the list. Searching for games involves communicating with 'master servers' on the Internet which game servers advertise to on the Internet. XQF can spawn your client into a selected server with customized options. You can also apply filters while searching for servers, trimming full or empty servers. I suggest all Linux users install XQF if you have not already.

Download/Installation

Download XQF here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles...p_id=13296

Straightforward instructions for most distros: http://www.linuxgames.com/xqf/docs.shtml#mozTocId861671
It is available in the Ubuntu universe repository for a quick Ubuntu installation.

Other Features of XQF

-Player Filters
By right clicking on a players name you can add a coloured icon next to their name. Its a way of sorting players, you could also use it as a buddy list. The way i use color filters:

Green for members in my clan
Blue for members in other clans
Red for skilled players not in clans

-Server Filters
XQF can filter servers so you only view servers that pass your settings. This can help weed out the servers not in use and too far from your physical location.

-Favorites List
Instead of looking through the whole list, make a favorites list. I added my favorite public and private servers to this list., It is much faster to just refresh your favorites list instead of the full one.

-Many other features:Here

TIP: Make sure you point XQF to the proper directory of your nexuiz glx or sdl file. Specify this location in Preferences > Games > Nexuiz.

Feel free to post in this thread other ways you use XQF.

Check this out http://www.agsm.net/

While reading on INTERNET lately i saw this:http://dpmaster.deathmask.net/?game=nexuiz
That link is the source XQF uses for its server information. The game browser just has more features and options, if you just want to check out the servers before connecting you can use that.
