I've definitely want to do this and it's been on the list of things todo. I've been thinking a lot about things to include. I've had some good video moments in the last week or two (double and triple kill w/ nex in tdm play, electro alt fire midairs, neat maneuvers). We've played some good tdm's this week and had some great team moments (covering a player w/ 5hp, team map control, effective comms, 3 nex beams converging on a single target simultaneously). Unfortunately, my demos in 2.4 are still choppy and would not work for a video. Unless I play w/ a 2.3 client I'm excluded until I get a fix. At this point it looks like we're getting new players, mappers, artists, admins, etc. but we need some more coders. We need a new demo system because I've been told that many of my feature requests wont work w/ the current demos.
I derailed and ran out of steam there. Not the best reply but its what I'm thinking.

I think it's a great idea.
Hmm....we could do a walkthrough of each member of the clan and show some video of each player.
"The Optimal clan is....
"mkzelda"
{Show clips of mk}
"Nifrek"
{Show clips of nifrek}
"Dokujisan"
{Show clips of me}
"-z-"
{Show clips of -z-}
and so on
For this to work, each member would have to submit some of their favorite demos from which to pull small clips. Each player would get about 15-20 seconds of video time, enough for maybe 3 action "moments" per member. If each member submitted demos (and also noted the time in the demo that needs to be lifted) then that would make this video pretty quick and easy to edit together.
Kojn told me how he did the motion blur effect which really made his video feel like a movie clip, so that could make it turn out really awesome.
With the latest hotfix, I'm now able to record demos properly without them being jittery. If other people are having trouble with that, then they can pull some clips out of spectator demos. I know I have some demos where I'm spectating mkzelda, for example. I would hand those over to him and get him to pick out the segments he wants to use.

Very cool.

Neat, that might be a little complicated for me to pinpoint unless someone gives me a date but I'll offer mine up.
I would be more than happy to submit my demos. I'll do some research and get back to you.

Love idea, except for the fact that I still have stuttery demos... :(
Hope that'll be fixed soon.

I'm really excited about this project, but I guess I'm at the mercy of whatever demos you've got of me, grabbing demos from 2007, or using nexuiz 2.3 in the future. In our upcoming matches, if anyone is speccing me and you see something video worthy, try to write down date/time/map/time of play and I'll try to do the same.
My patience is wearing thin with this problem. I don't even want to play anymore cause I'm just so tired of it. Its been over a month, and the whole time I've been thinking it'll be fixed any day now, but I'm starting to doubt that.CL
Dokujisan: Try server demos again now that you've put the hotfix on.

you can make an intro with a "scary" voice. something like:
after a long and heavy war.......
a clan was born.....
and then the logo.

awesome idea!
I have been trying to keep my demos sorted in the hope of such a project.
looks like its time to start reviewing them

Alright, well I don't think we'll be able to do a video with frame blending/motion blur because demos look like shit to begin with so it won't help if we blend 2000fps into 30fps, it'll still look horrible :(. But I tested rendering to .avi and it's true that at 30 fps it's not that bad, I mean you can see there's something wrong but it's not bad at all. When edited and everything it's probably not that noticable. So I'm gonna start recording demos. But from me you should probably expect nanl 1v1 footage more than anything else, there's not much else that seem that impressive to me when I watch my own demos.
On a semi-related note, when I came back home drunk/tired at 4-5am I went on bc2 and jumped around on soylent and I swear I was doing tricks and stuff I never did before and probably never been that fast Was thinking "can't wait to show that to mkzelda". But of course I wasn't recording... so maybe it just seemed that way because I was drunk. Yay. K bye.
