It is important to me to do whatever I can to help build up the north american clan scene. A big part of this is to pinpoint the decent players who are a good fit for a clan. Then we can either have them join an existing clan, or create their own. So, let's use this thread to discuss all of the "free agents" out there in Nexuiz land.
(and when I say North American players, I'm talking about players that play regularly on North American servers. That still includes people like Mandinga and iR3uL :)
<T> clan just disbanded, so there are now a few leftover players from that clan...
Zombie - Good DM skills. Still learning CTF. Probably make a good defender or mid-fielder.
Miraj (aka Deadline) is available. He is a decent attacker, but could use some refinement. He tends to complain at times, so I dunno if he'd make a good clan member. It would have to be a tolerant clan ;-)
Vendetta (aka Stealth Warrior) was improving steadily, but still has a ways to go. He seemed enthusiastic, but he's been in at least 2 failed clans by now. He could likely make a good addition to a clan who is willing to focus heavily on training its members. I think Vendetta would soak up some training, if someone were willing to offer that.
Off the top of my head, I can't remember who else was in <T> :-/
-----Members of the (\o/) clan
PCLizard started the (\o/) clan and invited FatCatDagg and Ann (who are brother and sister, btw). All three have been improving steadily, but I don't think (\o/) is a legit clan at this point. It might make better sense to have these three join another clan.
I think all three of them are open to someone teaching them techniques. I had a 2 hour training session with Ann last week showing her some laser jumping and movement techniques. I'm not sure about PCL's current skills because I havent played with him enough, but he's enthusiastic, which is great for any clan. FCD seems to be shaping into a flag runner. Not sure what Ann's position would be.
----and some others....
John Galt - I recently asked hi, and he said he would be interested in joining a clan for regular CTF matches. He's a very good flag runner and overall solid player. He could also act as a mid-fielder too.
I just got EOF (aka remedialJoe, aka sl4mm3r in IRC) to play in one of our pickup matches last night. He's pretty well-rounded. He has good movement and also DM skills. I don't know if he's open to being in a clan or not.
boney (aka Kiwi) was going to join [o] but then there was a problem with his work schedule. He works mostly nights and tends to play Nexuiz during the daytime.
Red dragon is very busy on US servers. He's an advanced player, especially when it comes to movement. Even though he lives in Germany, he sometimes dominates CTF matches in our pickup games because most of us can't move fast enough to stop him. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing :-) Hopefully, it will raise our overall collective skills. I dunno if someone wants to invite him officially to a clan or not. Right now, he's a "free agent".
Finally got in touch with Pavlvs. He is excited about our activity with the pickup matches, but he's not open about joining a clan. He said he doesn't like the possibility of the behavior of a group negatively affecting his reputation. I guess he has seen or had some bad experiences with clans. Hmm...who knows. Maybe he'll change his mind if the right clan comes along or if he really gets into the pickup matches with us.
I think AceOfThumbs would make an excellent clan addition. He's still relatively new to Nexuiz, but he's already been heavily active in the community (nexuiz ninjaz). I think he picked things up very quickly and he would probably soak up knowledge if he regularly trained with advanced players. I recently contacted him through email because he hasn't been around for a few weeks. He said he became busy. Hopefully, we can get him back into the mix of things and he can play in our regular pickup matches.
A very new player is psY, who I had a couple 1v1 matches with recently after he came into IRC complaining about there not being decent players on the public servers. After beating him a few times, I began teaching him some Nexuiz techniques. He seemed to soak it up like a sponge. He already has good basic DM skills, especially with the nex. He said he played some FPS games before, but not one this fast paced. If he continues to play Nexuiz, I think he'll make a very solid player and a good addition to a clan.
Another player i'll like to name here is Ac3, i play with him almost every day in galt's LMS and he has some good skills, i never saw him on DM/TDM/CTF so i'm not sure about his strategies (if he has any) and is pretty good with the Nex too, and the most important, he has a good actitude (which i think is one of the most important skills u need to be a clan member ;-))
I concurr with Doku, a lot of lone wolfs have skills (and i think responsability too) to be part of a clan. If u are one of this LW and u think u have what it is needed to be a clan member contact me with a PM or through the Contact Us link in Stroggs Website (
http://stroggs.ravenlabs.org) or find me in irc.quakenet.org #stroggs.nexuiz channel. The first 10 will receive a free cookies ;-)
PS: I think Vendetta is going to be a good player, but please dude, stop with the weapon changin', is totally annoyn =D
Duff man is clanless too.. , advanced ctf player , ex-bot ^^
same for ( i dunno whats his name now.. too many!! ^^) Apollo.. he was in TSA too with X-Calibur , Doku :P
vis2 has tenacity, skills are improving
xoltra has an excellent rail
Scorpion aka Omnius/Hydro/whatever is a good player, I'm personally iffy on guys with so many different names though (which is why I'm pleased Vendetta is keeping a name for once)
Abras is pretty good
Reptile (or any of his numerous nicks) is of course awesome
zeroone, his nex is enough said
...and I'll cry if anyone we have to play regularly recruits Red Dragon, that's like bringing a gun to a knife fight... yes, i like challenge as much as anyone, but i also enjoy hope :)
I haven't seen TheApotheom since 2.4, but other than the fact I think he's an ass he's a great player
Deadline/Miraj/Jin has the same sentiment from me as the above
I played a lot tonight with "SilverBullet". He's in montreal, (EST timezone). He's new to nexuiz, but he's learning quick. He uses Ubuntu, WANTS to learn, and he's even on IRC. I suspect he's a french canuck as he doesnt put together the best English, but he seems to understand what he reads fine. I think he'll be a real threat in a few months w/ the right training. He's learning some programming to, so if we can keep him interested, he may crank out some code beneficial to nexuiz. :D
All tonight he went from FFA only to playing 1v1 w/ me, learning bunnyhopping, bunnyhop+turning, jump+laser, trickjumps, weapon prioritizing, joined irc and specifically is idling on #nexuiz.pickup for future games :).
Voulez vous coucher avec moi ce soir?
Wow, another SilverBullet??? One of Stoggs clan members is SilverBullet so we migth need to talk with this new SB to ask him change his name =D
Tks for the data mkzelda, i'll look for him on IRC
I saw Neurotoxin during the daytime matches and he seemed to be a decent player, especially with the nex. I invited him to the matches and he said "eh...no thanks".
I invited Pink Snack to a pickup match. She showed up and played a map and held her own. Then the server started messing up and she split. She said she'll play again though in the future. In speccing her on public servers, she doesn't do a lot of tricky movement stuff, but she has good basic skills. She generally scores well on public games. I question whether she has any enthusiasm with it though. She's definitely a little impatient.
while there's plenty of good free agents, we need a non-retarded, mature, respectable person who hasn't led numerous failed clans who wants to make/lead a clan. it doesn't take *a lot* of time to "lead" a clan, but you gotta be around enough to seem like you're really in to the game to make others share your enthusiasm. otherwise no one will follow. moderate skills will help as well.
plus, between gt, o, and v we've taken a lot of the good players, so a new clan is going to be at a disadvantage. whomever leads another clan needs to be able to graciously accept defeat and moreover not have his clanmates overwhelmingly morose about the fact it's probably going to happen a lot at first.
