Introduction

What Is It?
The ninja pack is a simple no risk, drop-in solution for getting your Nexuiz configured like a ninja. The ninja pack breaks down useful configuration scripts into a logical framework. Thus giving you an out of the box solution with advanced configuration options in a module based system.

What does it offer?

Demo Management - Take advantage of Nexuiz's built in demo review/recording features with loadable keybinds
Weapon Mangement - Utilizing the Nexuiz 'bestweapon' function which allows weapon fallbacks, this pack has broken down the weapon management into logical divisions of use.
Team Messages - Enhanced defaults and mousewheel messages
Variable FOV - Change your field of view with your mousewheel
HUD ehancements - An enhanced HUD, netgraph, fps and speedometer
Very Customizable - Your current binds will run on top of it! If you already use 'autoexec.cfg', just rename it to 'personal_binds.cfg" and it will take priority over the ninja pack keybinds / scripts.

To Install/Uninstall
note: The ninja pack uses an autoexec.cfg file. If you already have an autoexec.cfg, please rename it to 'personal_binds.cfg' so they will automagically run. 'personal_binds.cfg' has priority over the ninja binds.

Install
1. Backup your 'config.cfg' located in your Nexuiz data directory.
2. Download the ninja pack to your Nexuiz data directory.

Uninstall
1. Replace 'config.cfg' with your backup
2. Move or remove the ninja pack pk3

To Configure

Basic
In game, you can change the settings for the following 4 functions by going to the 'input tab' in the 'settings window'. Their respective defaults are listed.

Message Menu - Mouse 5
Quick Zoom - Mouse 3 (mouse wheel click)
Adjust FOV - z
Default FOV - x

The default config assumes you have a 5 button mouse, so if you don't, you'll probably want to change your 'Message Menu' key.

Intermediate

For general Nexuiz configuration and weapon binds, drag your nn_conf.cfg out of the pack into your Nexuiz data directory and edit that.

Advanced

Explanations and details about the files. The best way to edit these files is to pull them out of the archive into your Nexuiz data directory. Files have priority over packs. If you'd like to commit these changes to your pack, I'd recommend renaming the pack and dragging your edited files back into it.

autoexec.cfg - the 'boot' file (Click to View)

autoexec.cfg is a file Nexuiz calls on startup. This file is used to call the 'startup' file of the ninja pack, 'nn_startup'.

nn_startup.cfg - the 'startup' file (Click to View)

This is used to launch other cfg files in the pack. If you make a module you'd like to contain in your pack, you should call it from this file.

nn_aliases.cfg - the 'make things purdy' file (Click to View)

Global aliases for player statistic variables matched with waypoints etc can be found here.

nn_aot_zoom.cfg - AceOfThumbs' variable zoom script (Click to View)

This is a script created by AceOfThumbs that allows you to change your FOV (field of view) by holding a key (z) and using your mousewheel to zoom in and out. It's really neat! You can adjust sensitivity and fov's in nn_conf.cfg

nn_conf.cfg - the 'general nexuiz configuration' file (Click to View)

This file contains general nexuiz tweaks and sensitivity / fov settings for AoT's zoom script.

nn_ctf_messages.cfg - mousewheel message script (Click to View)

These messages were generated with AoT's Mouse Wheel Message tool found at http://training.nexuizninjaz.com. You can create your own mousewheel messages and add them to the pack by copying the generated code. If you choose to do this, you should load your new config through nn_startup.cfg.

Note: The keybinds for this script are technically in the nn_keybinds.cfg file but you should edit them in-game because the 'nn_install.cfg file will make them inaccessible otherwise.

nn_install.cfg - the 'user-defined binds ala gui' file (Click to View)

This file ensures that changes to your in-game user defined keybinds won't get overwritten on the next startup. See file for details.

nn_keybinds.cfg - the 'keybind' file (Click to View)

Keybind as detailed by the diagram, minus the button loaded configs and the demo recording keybinds are defined here.

nn_userbind_defaults.cfg - just in case? (Click to View)

In case you feel like your userbinds got messed up and you want the nexuiz defaults, just load this config.

nn_userbind_ninjafied.cfg - Default numpad keybind enhancements (Click to View)

These have been improved with colors to help your teammates better identify the information you're trying to pass to them. If you prefer the uncolored ones, they have been included as 'nn_userbind_defaults.cfg' which you can load by replacing 'nn_userbind_ninjafied.cfg' @ line 71 in 'nn_keybinds.cfg'

nn_video.cfg - demo playback and recording binds (Click to View)

This is a seperate file to allow it to be called by a button press.

personal_binds.cfg - the 'new autoexec.cfg (Click to View)

This file acts as the new 'onload' for Nexuiz. Put your custom binds in this file.

Additional Modules

Chat Mute - If the constant beeping annoys you or you find the player chat distracting, this module sets your chat sound to nothing and allows you to toggle the chat window with the 'm' key.

FAQ

Q. why isn't there a hook bind?
A. I use the mouse for hook. I think you should try it ;o)

Q. How do I use the Demo Management Binds?
A. The default key to load the demo management binds is 'page down'. They replace your numpad binds temporarily. (press 'page up' for the default ninja binds).

Q. I've loaded the demo management binds, how do I get the default binds back?
A. Press 'page up' for the ninja binds.

Q. What the heck, is the skip ahead 1 minute function broken?
A. No, you just have to pause first. The default key to pause is '0' (on the numpad).

I tried to design the framework so it would be easy to integrate your own scripts. This way, you can include all the things that make your life easier with the added benefit of having a maintained core of functions and scripts. You don't even need to keep all the included modules, pick and choose which ones you want.

Well, you're going to have to be more specific about the HUD not working. If you're using 2.4, it should be up. Perhaps you don't notice it because it seems like it could/should be the default HUD.

Nice with the binds -Z- and i like the bind in your other forum with the scroll on the mouse

Maybe you could add some more of the default binds:
f3 specate
f4 ready up
f5 teammenu
f6 autojoin a team
f10 disconnect
f11 quit
f12 screenshot

And maybe a thing others find useful:
alias +scores "+showscores; +con_chat_maximize"
alias -scores "-showscores; -con_chat_maximize"
bind tab +scores
(it will show the scoreboard as usual and 'behind it' show the current chat history. I did not want to add an other key for the chat but its useful now and then. And as the scoreboard has a nice boarder around it, the scores are still very visible even if chat goes over the whole screen then.

Yes, I've actually added in a bunch more but I altered the XML fields a bit, so I can't update the live version yet. The update will have to wait until I complete the application. Which I hope to be within the month. The new version makes it easier to understand what actions each bind does and edit them easier :).
